What ISO/DIS 14002-4 is, and its draft status

ISO/DIS 14002-4 is titled "Environmental management systems — Guidelines for using ISO 14001 to address environmental aspects and conditions within an environmental topic area — Part 4: Resources and waste." The "DIS" in its name stands for Draft International Standard: as of this course's review, the document sits at the enquiry stage with ISO's national member bodies, not yet a finished, published part of the series the way Parts 1 through 3 are.

Its intended purpose, once finalized

Its intended purpose, once finalized, is to help organizations address resource- and waste-related environmental aspects, environmental conditions, and the associated risks and opportunities within an ISO 14001 environmental management system, covering environmental aspects and impacts across the full life cycle of material resources: extraction, processing, use, recovery and end-of-life treatment.
